When it comes to designing your website, whether it’s your first or your 50th, one of the biggest decisions you will make is deciding which web design platform to choose. As a Squarespace designer, my choice is obvious. Here, I’ll share why I use Squarespace as a web designer, and why it might be the best choice for you too!

With so many website platforms to choose from (such as Wix, WordPress, Shopify, and so many more) it can be difficult to decide which website design platform is best for you. While I can’t answer that question for you, I can share why I chose Squarespace to create my own website and use as a web designer for creative professionals and small businesses.

Here are the 5 reasons I chose Squarespace for my web design business & why it might be the best option for your DIY site:

01. Squarespace is… Easy to use

As a small business owner, I appreciate that Squarespace is incredibly straight forward to use. Unlike other platforms that require a lot of backend coding, or a lot of time to make simple alterations, Squarespace makes it simple to add text blocks and move content around the page.

Using Squarespace as a designer specifically saves me DAYS when creating gorgeous websites for my clients. I don’t have to play with any finicky or difficult code and can focus on creating designs that my clients will love. Once the project is delivered, I love that I have confidence that my clients will be able to maintain their website without any hiccups - they can focus on what they love to do best and succeed online. The fact that it’s designed with small business owners in mind keeps Squarespace at the top of my list of favorite platforms.

02. Squarespace comes with… Resources & support

When it comes to web design, the possibilities are endless and that’s half the fun! But… even though Squarespace is truly an easy platform to use, there might be designs you just aren’t sure how to pull off. If you are ever unsure about a topic or are wanting to do something new with your website, Squarespace provides step-by-step guides on pretty much every topic and question you could ask. It also provides 24/7 support and a forum with common Q&As. You wont be left wondering for long!

03. Squarespace is… Versatile & customizable

Whether you want a one-page website with essential information and a fashionable design, or a more expansive and dynamic site, Squarespace is versatile enough to let you adapt the platform to your needs. There are numerous of ready-made templates for you to pick from and add your content to.

You can even narrow down the options based on what you need your website to do! For instance, if you’re a small business that has a blog and also runs an online shop, you can filter through Squarespace templates to ensure your site will have the necessary business features built in. (Believe me, nothing is worse than choosing a template and realizing it doesn’t have half of what your business needs!)

Squarespace also recently came out with a new plug-in called Squarekicker that lets you apply more complex effects to your site (without the coding hassle).

04. Squarespace is… Affordable and flexible

A key factor for any small business is budget (I totally get it!) and spending thousands on a website each year may not be feasible. Believe me, you’re not alone. Especially when you’re getting started with your business, you want to choose a web design platform that fits into your budget (but also gets you the results you need to grow your business). Squarespace offers four plans to choose from at the moment, with the least expensive at just $12 a month. You have the option to pay on a monthly or annual basis and can enjoy discounts for longer-term subscriptions. It is an affordable place to get your business up and running online. And, when your business starts to gain momentum, you can upgrade or alter your subscription at ANY time with a few simple clicks.

05. Squarespace has… Invaluable data & analytics:

When it comes to growing a small business, having insights about what’s working and what’s not is invaluable. Yet, paying monthly fees to services that show you insights in complicated systems can feel like a waste. Thankfully, all Squarespace websites have built-in analytics to help monitor your website’s performance and visitor interaction with your content. When you launch your website, you’ll immediately have access to your site’s traffic overview, sources of traffic (e.g., Pinterest, Google, Instagram, etc.), content that is popular, specific keywords, subscriber numbers and more within your Squarespace site. You won’t need to open multiple tabs or weed through complicated stats that really don’t matter. Having the essential analytics and information about your business can make all the difference in guiding your content strategy as your business evolves.

To Wrap Up

There are so many other benefits to using Squarespace (like it’s built-in SEO best practices). With Squarespace’s time savings from ease of use, versatility and customization to make your website exactly what you need at an affordable cost with built-in analytics, I highly recommend Squarespace for any new web designer or entrepreneur to succeed in attracting dream clients to their virtual doorstep.
